BiGS prizes

Birkbeck Gender and Sexuality is delighted to announce two awards to celebrate student work that shows excellent engagement with gender and sexuality in any discipline.

These awards, of £100 each, will be offered to one undergraduate student and one postgraduate student from any school across the College. Submissions will be assessed on the quality of their creative and critical approach to a topic related to gender and sexuality.

The BiGS Lynne Segal Prize (Postgraduate)

Guidelines

  • Programme directors are invited to submit a maximum of one piece of postgraduate work per programme for consideration by a panel of BiGS members.
  • We encourage work that addresses gender and sexuality from a range of disciplines, using a variety of interpretative approaches.
  • Submissions may include written, recorded or in other visual formats, including essays, presentations, reports, performances, films and portfolios.
  • We ask that programme directors are mindful of other prizes being awarded when submitting their recommendations.

  • Call for submissions opens: November 2024
  • Deadline for submission: December 2024
  • Announcement of Winners: February 2025
